Marburg virus

In response to the Marburg virus outbreak in Equatorial Guinea and Tanzania, the UAE government has released a fresh travel advisory, urging Emiratis to avoid traveling to these regions. Additionally, UAE citizens currently in these countries are advised to take necessary precautions and follow the safety guidelines issued by the respective authorities.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap) in the UAE has further emphasized the importance of self-isolation and prompt medical assistance for travelers returning from these countries. It is advised that individuals isolate themselves and seek immediate medical attention at the nearest healthcare facility or emergency department within hospitals upon their arrival in the UAE.
Individuals experiencing symptoms of the virus persisting for over 21 days are strongly advised to seek immediate medical assistance. Common symptoms include fever, chills, headache, myalgia, chest pain, and a sore throat. In severe cases, the Marburg virus may lead to jaundice, significant weight loss, and other critical health complications.

For emergencies, UAE citizens are requested to directly contact the Ministry at 0097180024.
