As almost every Islamic prayer has Duas and Recitations to be said while performing, Umrah Duas are also the basis for supplication and reward. Although there are not any special Dua nor specific supplications, one can recite any Dua/ supplication while performing Umrah. There are some Duas of Umrah which Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H. recited while performing the Umrah.
Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H. performed Umrah 4 times in his life. On every step of Umrah, there is an Arabic Dua to be uttered and along with it, you can utter any other Quranic Verse/ Dua while performing Umrah. Here we will discuss essential Umrah Duas in detail and better if you remember them and utter them while performing Umrah.
Umrah Dua While Entering Ihram, Niyyat/ Intention Dua:
Preparing for Umrah starts from entering Ihram state. Ihram is a spiritual state in which Umrah performer puts all his senses in the remembrance of Allah. While entering Ihram you can utter any of the following Umrah Dua which is also called Umrah Niyyat/ Umrah intention Dua
OR
After making the intention of Umrah, the following Talbiyah is preferred to say 3 times. However, it should be repeated all the time while walking, sitting, sleeping, etc.
Umrah Dua of Entering Masjid-e-Haram:
After entering Ihram state, you will Enter Masjid-e-Haraam now. Enter with the right foot and read the Umrah Dua of entering Masjid-e-Haraam.
You can recite any Dua, just recite Bismillah, Durood-e-Ibrahimi, and make the intention of Tawaf.
When you see Ka’bah at first glance; read this Dua of Seeing Ka’bah.
Umrah Duas During Tawaf:
Make Niyyat of Tawaf/ Tawaf Intention Dua by saying
Now you would touch Hijr-e-Aswad and then start Tawaf. If there is a crowd and you cannot approach Hijr-e-Aswad, you can just raise both hands and say
Now start Tawaf by keeping Ka’bah on your left side (anti-clockwise) and move around Ka’bah seven times. Umrah Dua while pointing towards Hijre Aswad will be repeated each time you start a new round. Pointing towards Hijre Aswad and reciting the above Dua is called Istilam.
There is no specific Dua while performing Tawaf, but it is said that our Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H used to read the following verse 201 of Surah Baqarah as an Umrah Dua while performing Tawaf.
After Tawaf is completed, read Umrah Dua of Hijr-e-Aswad eighth time (Istilam) along with pointing towards Hijre Aswad. Then you will go near Maqam-e-Ibrahim and recite a part of Surah-e-Baqara’s Verse 125:
Now offer at least 2 Nafil near Maqaam e Ibrahim. If there is a crowd you can offer Nafil prayers anywhere in Masjid e Haraam. Read how much zamzam is allowed, and zamzam water rules are here. Usually, after completion of Nafil, Umrah Performers drink Zamzam water while standing and facing towards Ka’bah. Umrah Dua of drinking Zamzam water is:
Umrah Duas During Sa’ee:
After completing Tawaf and performing Nafil prayers in Masjid-e-Haraam, you would now complete the next ritual of Umrah i.e. Sa’ee. Safa and Marwah are located in Masjid e Haraam. First, you will again perform Istilam and start Sa’ee beginning from hill Safa. Read Surah Baqara’s Verse 158 as Umrah Dua of Sa’ee while starting:
You can now make an intention of Sa’ee in heart. Starting from Safa, you will move between Safa and Marwah 7 times (4 times on Safa and 3 Times on Marwah). When you reach the top of Safa, recite the following Umrah Dua at the top of Safa, facing and raising hands towards Ka’bah.
You can make other Duas also. The same Dua, in the same way, is recited when you reach the top of hill Marwah. Another Dua which was recited by some Sahabah on this step is:
After completion of Sa’ee, you can offer 2 Rakat Nafil (Mustahab) or directly move for the final step of Umrah i.e. Qasr/ Halaq. Qasr/ Halaq is done by barbers for men. And women can trim the end of each other’s hair at least 1 inch. After completion of all these steps, say thanks to Allah who provided you this opportunity. Now you can get out of the state of Ihram and your all sins would have been removed out (Insha’Allah).
