Day 2 : Kandy Sightseeing

Start your day with a delicious breakfast before embarking on the Kandy City Tour.
Explore the sights of Kandy, such as the picturesque Upper Lake Drive, the Market Crafts Centre, and the fascinating Gem Museum. Known as the hill capital, Kandy holds significance as the annual venue for the Perahera festival. Historically, it was the last bastion of the Sinhala Kings before it was relinquished to British control in 1815.

In the evening, immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Sri Lanka with a traditional dance performance.
Afterward, return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in Kandy.

Day 3 : Kandy Nuwara Eliya

Meals: Breakfast & Dinner
Travel Time: Approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes
Start your day with a delightful breakfast before checking out from the hotel. Your first stop is the Royal Botanical Garden in Kandy, a sprawling 147-acre garden established in 1374 as a pleasure garden for the Kings of Gampola and Kandy. Wander through the garden's enchanting landscapes featuring over 5,000 species of trees, plants, and creepers, including rare and endemic varieties as well as tropical flora. Don't miss the Spice Garden and Orchid House, favored spots among visitors. Admire the five Palm Avenues adorning the gardens, with the Royal Palm Avenue, planted in 1905, standing as the earliest and tallest.

During your journey to Nuwara Eliya, indulge in a "Tea Experience" by visiting a plantation to witness the tea-making process firsthand. Introduced to the island by the British in 1850, Ceylon Tea has garnered worldwide renown for its exceptional quality, remaining a vital contributor to Sri Lanka's economy. The high altitudes of the hill country provide the perfect conditions for cultivating the most flavorful tea varieties. A guided tour of a Tea Factory offers enlightening insights into the tea production process.

En route, take a moment to visit the majestic Ramboda Waterfalls, standing at 109 meters (358 feet) high, making it the 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and the 729th highest in the world. Nestled in the Pussellawa area on the A5 highway at Ramboda Pass, the waterfall is formed by the Panna Oya, a tributary of Kothmale Oya. Perched at an altitude of 945 meters (3,100 feet) above sea level, it offers a picturesque spectacle amidst stunning surroundings, providing ample opportunities for captivating photographs.

Arrive in Nuwara Eliya, often referred to as the "Little England" of Sri Lanka, where you'll be greeted by breathtaking backdrops of mountains, valleys, waterfalls, and tea plantations. Despite its reputation as one of the coolest spots on the island, Nuwara Eliya boasts a climate reminiscent of an English spring day, with temperatures dropping slightly at night. Evidence of British influence is evident throughout the town, with charming houses resembling country cottages or Queen Anne-style mansions. Take a leisurely stroll or enjoy a picnic at Victoria Park, located in the heart of the town, which also offers excellent birdwatching opportunities with sightings of rare avian species.

Check into your hotel and in the evening, embark on a sightseeing tour of Nuwara Eliya, exploring its quaint streets and soaking in its colonial charm.
