Day 1 : Colombo Katunayake Airport Kandy

Upon your arrival at Colombo International Airport, our dedicated guide from Esna Holidays will be there to greet you. Once you've completed the necessary airport formalities, you'll be whisked away in our comfortable air-conditioned vehicle for a scenic transfer to Kandy.

En route, we'll make a stop at the renowned Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. This remarkable sanctuary serves as both a nursery and a breeding ground for wild Asian elephants. With the largest herd of captive elephants globally, Pinnawala offers a unique opportunity to observe these majestic creatures up close. Established in 1975 by the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation, the orphanage is dedicated to the care and protection of orphaned wild elephants found roaming the forests of Sri Lanka.

Our journey continues with a visit to a Spice Garden in Mawanella, where you'll discover the rich variety of spices that Sri Lanka is celebrated for. Experience firsthand how these spices are cultivated and processed as our knowledgeable guides take you through the gardens.

Day 2 : Kandy Sightseeing

Enjoy a delightful breakfast before embarking on the Kandy City Tour.
Explore the charms of Kandy with visits to its iconic landmarks, including the Upper Lake Drive, Market Crafts Centre, and Gem Museum. Kandy, the hill capital, holds historical significance as the last bastion of the Sinhala Kings before being surrendered to the British in 1815.

Discover the splendor of the Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya, sprawling across 147 acres. Established in 1374 as a royal pleasure garden, it now showcases over 5,000 species of trees, plants, and creepers, some of which are rare and endemic. Visitors flock to admire the Spice Garden and Orchid House, while the majestic Palm Avenues, including the historic Royal Palm Avenue, add to the garden's allure.

In the evening, immerse yourself in the vibrant rhythms of a traditional Cultural Show, featuring captivating dances.

Day 3 : Kandy Nuwara Eliya

Start your day with a delightful breakfast before checking out from the hotel and heading towards Nuwara Eliya.

During the journey, immerse yourself in a unique "Tea Experience" by visiting a tea plantation. Witness the fascinating process firsthand, from the meticulous plucking of "two leaves and a bud" in the fields to the intricate processing in the factory. Introduced to the island by the British in the 1850s, Ceylon Tea has gained worldwide acclaim for its exceptional quality and has been a cornerstone of Sri Lanka's economy for generations. Today, Sri Lanka stands as one of the largest tea exporters globally. The optimal climate of the island's hill country yields the finest tea flavors, making a guided tour of a Tea Factory an enlightening experience.

En route, make a stop to admire the breathtaking Ramboda Waterfalls, standing at an impressive height of 109 meters (358 feet). Ranked as the 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and the 729th highest in the world, it cascades gracefully in the Pussellawa area, nestled along the A5 highway at Ramboda Pass. Situated at an altitude of 945 meters (3,100 feet) above sea level, the falls, surrounded by stunning scenery, offer numerous photo opportunities and are a must-visit attraction during your journey.

Nuwara Eliya, often referred to as the 'Little England' of Sri Lanka, is embraced by picturesque mountains, lush valleys, cascading waterfalls, and verdant tea plantations. Despite being one of the coolest spots on the island, its climate resembles that of an English spring day, with temperatures dropping slightly at night. The town bears a distinct British influence, evident in its architecture, reminiscent of quaint country cottages and elegant Queen Anne-style mansions. Don't miss the chance to explore Victoria Park, nestled in the heart of the town, offering a serene setting for a leisurely stroll or a delightful picnic. The park is also a haven for birdwatchers, offering glimpses of rare avian species.

Day 4 : Nuwara Eliya Bentota

We'll start the day with breakfast at the hotel, followed by checkout, and then head towards Bentota.

Along the way, we'll make stops to explore some fascinating sites. Our first stop is St. Clair's Falls, renowned as the "Little Niagara of Sri Lanka" due to its impressive width. This majestic waterfall is one of six affected by the Upper Kotmale Hydropower Project.

Next, we'll visit Devon Falls, located 6 km west of Talawakele in the Nuwara Eliya District. Named after the English coffee planter Devon, this waterfall stands at an impressive 97 meters high, ranking as the 19th highest on the island.

Our journey then takes us to Kithulgala, famous for its White Water Rafting adventures. But beyond rafting, this destination offers much more to explore. One highlight is the historic Beli Lena Caves, believed to have been inhabited by the prehistoric Balangoda Man.
Upon arrival in Bentota, we'll check into our hotel, where the rest of the day is free for leisure. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in Bentota.

Day 5 : Bentota Sightseeing

Madu River Boat Ride:
Explore the 915-hectare Madu Ganga Estuary through a captivating boat ride. Linked by two narrow channels to the Randombe Lake, this area forms a rich wetland ecosystem with 64 mangrove islets. A comprehensive biodiversity survey conducted by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in 2000 uncovered a diverse array of flora and fauna, including over 300 plant species and 248 vertebrate species. This impressive biodiversity led to its designation under the RAMSAR Convention on Wetlands in 2003.

Marine Turtle Conservation at Kosgoda:
Witness the conservation efforts aimed at protecting marine turtles, globally recognized as endangered species. Sri Lanka is home to five of the seven species of marine turtles, making it a crucial nesting ground. Experience the mesmerizing sight of turtles nesting, hatchlings emerging, and making their journey back to the sea. The Kosgoda Conservation Project offers an educational and immersive opportunity to observe and learn about these magnificent creatures.
