You can reach the park from Kampala via either the tarmac route through Mbarara (420 km) or the route through Fort Portal via Kasese (410 km). The drive from Kampala to the park typically takes about 5 to 6 hours via the tarmac road through Mbarara. On your way, you'll have the opportunity to stop at the equator for photos and enjoy lunch in Mbarara municipality before continuing to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Upon arrival in the afternoon, you can take an afternoon or evening boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. To make the most of your day, an early morning departure from Kampala is recommended. The boat cruise offers a chance to view wildlife in their natural habitat, including buffalo, elephants, and other animals that inhabit the grassland thickets near Mweya in Northern Kazinga. For lion sightings, the eastern part of the Kasenyi plains and the Kasese road are your best bets, where they hunt Uganda Kobs.
