The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a delightful journey that falls between easy and moderate difficulty, and is renowned as one of Nepal’s finest trekking experiences. This trek showcases breathtaking views of majestic Himalayan peaks such as Fishtail, Annapurna South, and Hiuchuli. As you trek, you'll traverse lush green forests adorned with vibrant red rhododendrons.Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture of the local Gurung community, staying in charming villages that dot the route. The trek follows ancient trade routes once traveled by Nepalese traders. Poon Hill, the trek’s highlight, is celebrated for its spectacular sunrise vistas, where the first light of day casts a golden glow over some of the tallest mountain ranges in the Himalayas. The trek is also known for its varied terrain, which alternates between dense forests, open fields, and rolling hills.
On the first day of your arrival, you'll be greeted at the hotel where your trekking adventure begins. Spend the night at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Our drive will occupy most of the morning, but we'll have plenty of time in the afternoon to experience the enchanting beauty of Pokhara Valley. You'll be captivated by the shimmering white peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Afterward, we'll spend the night at a hotel in Pokhara.
You start your trek from Nayapul (1050m), making your way through Birethanti (1065m). The initial section of your trek is pleasant, taking you past several charming hamlets and settlements. From there, you'll gradually ascend towards your destination for the day, Tikhedhunga (1577m). Expect to spend about four and a half hours trekking. You'll spend the night at a lodge.
Your trek starts with a steep two-hour ascent before leveling off as you pass through the Magar villages of Ulleri (2070m) and Banthanti. Along the way, enjoy stunning views of Machhapuchhare (6997m), Hiunchuli (6441m), and Annapurna South (7219m). As you continue, the trail becomes more manageable, winding through the forest and gently descending to your final camp for the night. You'll stay overnight at a lodge.
Embark on an early morning excursion to Poon Hill (3232m) to witness a breathtaking sunrise over a panorama of snow-capped peaks, including Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Tukuche Peak (6920m), Nilgiri (6940m), Varaha Shikhar (7847m), Mt. Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South (7219m), Annapurna III (7855m), Machhapuchhre (6993m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna II (7937m), and Lamjung Himal (6931m).After breakfast, trek from Ghorepani to Tikhedhunga (2650m), and then continue to Pokhara. This journey takes you through lush forests of rhododendrons, bamboo, and oak, offering frequent views of waterfalls, rugged rocks, wildlife, local birds, and vibrant green landscapes.
As you drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu, you'll pass through Damauli, Dumre, Muglin, and Kurintar, where Nepal's first cable car takes you to the Manakamana Temple. Along the way, enjoy views of the mountains, lush green landscapes, rice terraces, vegetable fields, and the daily life of the local people. From Naubishe, continue your ascent to Thankot, the gateway to Kathmandu.
On the 7th day, you reach the culmination of your adventurous trekking journey.
