Turkey, officially known as the Republic of Turkey, is a transcontinental country located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. It spans both the Anatolian Peninsula in Western Asia and a small portion of southeastern Europe called Thrace. The capital city is Ankara, but the largest and most well-known city is Istanbul, which is situated on both sides of the Bosporus Strait, connecting Europe and Asia.
