The interior ministry of Saudi Arabia announced that the government is gradually resuming the umrah pilgrimage from October 4, 2020. According to the sources, the decision has been taken by evaluating the current situation of the coronavirus pandemic. 
 

Different Phases Announced

As per the instructions provided by the officials, in the first phase, 60000 citizens from the kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be allowed to offer Umrah from 4th October. The second phase will be started from 18th October whereas the third phase will be initiated on 1st November. In the fourth and the last phase, the 100% pilgrims will be allowed to offer the prayers, and Umrah and the pilgrims will be permitted to enter the holy places freely when the government will declare the decision regarding the elimination of the pandemic. It is pertinent to mention here that the number of pilgrims will be increased gradually and 60,000 people will be allowed to offer the prayers in Masjid-al-Haram. Launch An App

To further monitor the situation of the visitors and the worshippers the government has announced to launch an application named “I’tamarna”. This app will ensure to provide complete assistance to the pilgrims throughout the whole journey. The interior ministry has also directed all the pilgrims to strictly adhere to the health standards and maintain the social distance to avoid any severe consequences. 
 

Ban On Umrah

The Saudi government imposed the ban on the umrah in March due to concerns over the spread of the coronavirus. In the wake of the rising issues, no pilgrim was allowed to enter the holy places of Mecca and Medina.
